Two-Year College Built for Gen Z Launches Cybersecurity Program Designed for the AI Threat Landscape

Campus has announced the launch of its cybersecurity concentration within the Associate of Science (AS) in Information Technology degree program. This initiative aims to prepare students for careers in a field that is becoming increasingly important due to the rise of AI-powered attacks.

Tade Oyerinde, founder and chancellor of Campus, stated, "In cybersecurity, AI means that the threats are getting smarter and the demand for people who can meet them is growing. This program is about giving young people a real on-ramp to a field that's critically important and urgently needs AI-native talent."

According to the ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study, 95% of cybersecurity teams identify skills gaps among professionals, indicating that skill deficits, rather than simply headcount shortages, are significant challenges as AI transforms both attack methods and the expertise needed to counteract them. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 29% employment growth for information security analysts between 2024 and 2034, approximately nine times the average growth for all occupations.

Students enrolled in the two-year program will receive live instruction from experienced cybersecurity professionals. The curriculum includes a dedicated "AI in Cybersecurity" course, focusing on the impact of AI on threat detection and management. Additionally, students will gain practical experience through simulations covering various topics, including ethical hacking and compliance.

Donald Rarick, cybersecurity program director at Campus, highlighted the importance of foundational knowledge, stating, "Employers are looking for candidates who understand networking, operating systems, cloud technologies, and security principles." The program prepares students for industry-recognized certifications, integrating certification exam preparation directly into the coursework, and offering Campus-funded vouchers for qualifying students.

Founded in the AI era, Campus is supported by notable entrepreneurs and investors and features a governance board comprised of former college presidents. It offers online classes led by faculty from prestigious institutions and is designed to enhance student graduation rates through personalized support and mentorship.
