July 10, 2026

Farr's Best, a national nonprofit organization founded by Andre Farr to strengthen families and communities, has partnered with Sacramento State University's Black Honors College to develop the next generation of student leaders. This collaboration included the presentation of Farr's Best inaugural Speech & Debate Scholarship during the annual Family Leadership Summit.

At the summit, held from June 19–21, 2026, Aiden Wates-Gee was awarded a $5,000 scholarship, the first under a broader $100,000 fundraising campaign aimed at expanding the program nationwide. Wates-Gee, a 2026 high school graduate with a 4.1 GPA, is set to attend an honors college in the fall.

Michael Williams, Senior Vice President of Consumer Lending and Member Experience at American First Credit Union, commented on the importance of the scholarship, stating, "It was an honor to partner with Andre Farr and the Farr's Best family on this scholarship program, and after meeting Aiden personally, I couldn't think of a more worthy and inspiring recipient."

The summit featured various events, including a panel discussion on family leadership and educational excellence, and was supported by multiple partners, including the City of Rancho Cordova and American First Credit Union. Dr. Luke Wood, President of Sacramento State University, expressed gratitude for the convening, highlighting the importance of strengthening families and promoting college attendance.

Andre Farr emphasized the scholarship's significance beyond financial support, stating, "It represents our commitment to building leaders before titles are earned and before careers begin." The summit included sessions centered on economic opportunity and family activities, marking a successful event dedicated to fostering community leadership.

Planning is already underway for the 2027 Farr's Best Family Leadership Summit, with organizers focused on expanding scholarships and leadership programming for families across the country.
