Eve Air Mobility and Moov Sign LOI for up to 30 eVTOLs to Explore Tourism and Regional Mobility in Cabo Verde

Eve Air Mobility and Moov have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the potential acquisition of up to 30 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, aiming to explore advanced air mobility (AAM) opportunities in Cabo Verde and Europe. This agreement is intended to evaluate the role of eVTOLs in enhancing tourism and regional mobility within the islands of the African archipelago.

The collaboration will investigate various use cases, including sightseeing and airport shuttle services between airports, ports, and resorts, as well as mobility solutions across the islands of São Vicente, Santo Antão, Sal, Praia, and Boa Vista. The companies also see potential in leveraging eVTOL technology for medical transport services and infrastructure inspections.

According to the World Bank, Cabo Verde's tourism sector is projected to grow, with tourist arrivals anticipated to reach approximately 1.18 million in 2024, reflecting a 16.5% increase compared to the previous year. This growth solidifies tourism's position as a crucial economic driver for the country, prompting investment in infrastructure and connectivity to support this upward trend.

Captain Alvaro N. de Oliveira, Founder and CEO of Moov, noted the unique position of Cabo Verde to adopt innovative mobility solutions that enhance the visitor experience, as well as foster long-term connectivity and economic development. He emphasized that partnering with Eve allows a deeper exploration of how eVTOL aircraft could align with Moov's broader vision for aviation in the mid-Atlantic.

Currently, Cabo Verde is experiencing an influx of investments in its transport, tourism, and strategic infrastructure sectors. Ongoing airport modernization initiatives and public-private investments are enhancing the country's growth outlook and reinforcing the demand for new mobility solutions within the region.
