American College of Surgeons and Arcadia Collaborate to Improve Surgical Patient Outcomes

July 29, 2026

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and Arcadia have announced a collaboration aimed at enhancing the ACS Clinical Data Strategy. This multi-year initiative seeks to modernize the collection, connection, analysis, and application of surgical clinical data across ACS Quality Programs and patient registries.

For over two decades, the ACS has been at the forefront of using clinical data to elevate surgical quality through initiatives like the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP). The newly established collaboration is designed to provide hospitals, clinicians, and quality improvement teams with insights that will lessen administrative challenges and improve surgical patient outcomes.

"This is not a technology initiative. This is a quality improvement strategy enabled, in part, by Arcadia's trusted healthcare performance platform," stated ACS Executive Director & CEO Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS. She emphasized the importance of allowing hospitals and care teams to focus more on patient care rather than data management, marking this collaboration as a significant move towards that goal.

The initiative aims to develop a comprehensive surgical data ecosystem that enhances the use of clinical data throughout the surgical care continuum. While the ACS will modernize the ways in which data are handled, the organization maintains its commitment to high-quality clinical data standards that hospitals depend on. Arcadia will contribute to advancing the data platform capabilities necessary to support the initiative, making it easier for hospitals to identify trends and performance opportunities without extensive data manipulation.

The collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment between ACS and Arcadia to enhance care quality for patients, enabling hospitals to access a wider array of operational and clinical insights for faster decision-making and effective quality improvement initiatives.
