The XCMG Group highlighted continuous research and development, comprehensive digital transformation, and enhanced localization as three key pathways to promote sustainable transformation in the global mining industry during the Boao Forum for Asia Perth Conference on July 27.
The event, co-hosted by the Boao Forum for Asia and Fortescue, was themed "The Next Phase of Cooperation in the Green Industry" and attended by approximately 200 representatives from politics, industry, technology, finance, and research institutions.
During a panel discussion entitled "Drivers for Green Industry Growth – Innovation, AI, and Collaboration in Finance," Yang Dongsheng, Chairman of XCMG Group and XCMG Machinery, articulated the company's perspective on the green and digital transformation of global mining. "Innovation, AI, and digital technologies pose a common challenge for the global manufacturing and mining industries: how to translate them into new impetus for green growth," Yang stated. "The key lies in advancing long-term research and development, comprehensive digital transformation, and deeper localization in parallel.
Yang emphasized that, as a Chinese machinery manufacturer rooted in the real economy, XCMG would deepen the integration of digital and green technologies. "With a comprehensive range of mining and construction equipment featuring new drive technologies, as well as integrated smart and low-carbon mining solutions, we aim to provide equipment, technology, and digital support for the energy transition in Australia and worldwide," he added.
He also noted that XCMG considers artificial intelligence a crucial factor for smarter machines, autonomous operation, and data-driven optimization, which can enhance mining customers' efficiency while reducing energy consumption and emissions.
Following the conference, international delegates visited Fortescue's mining operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. XCMG has signed China's largest export order for environmentally friendly mining machines with Fortescue, with electric machines set to be gradually deployed at Fortescue's Pilbara operations to support the company's goal of achieving zero emissions by 2030. XCMG is pursuing a long-term, locally-focused approach in Australia that combines sustainable technology investments with local market expertise.
