Beamr Brings NVIDIA Video Super Resolution to Live Sports and Broadcast Video

August 5, 2026

Beamr Imaging Ltd. has announced the integration of NVIDIA Video Super Resolution technology into its existing production and delivery systems, aiming to enhance the quality of live sports, broadcast, and streaming content. The technology will be showcased during live demonstrations at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam from September 11 to 14.

The combination of NVIDIA’s AI upscaling and Beamr’s Emmy® Award-winning content-adaptive bitrate (CABR) encoding allows broadcasters to convert HD feeds into a 4K viewing experience without incurring additional delivery costs typically associated with upscaling. This innovation is set to address the common issue where the majority of 4K sports content currently available does not originate in native 4K format, being instead upscaled by consumer televisions with little to no quality control.

The integrated Beamr pipeline enables broadcasters to upscale HD content during the production phase, allowing for controlled and verified quality enhancement. Beamr’s CABR encoding also provides streaming outputs that are up to 50% smaller than standard encodings, maintaining high picture quality without elevated delivery expenses. The complete pipeline operates on NVIDIA RTX PRO GPUs, which can be deployed in either cloud or on-premises settings.

Verification of output quality is emphasized through Beamr's VISTA tool, which uses subjective viewer testing to assess perceived improvements in quality. Sharon Carmel, CEO of Beamr, highlighted the existing disparity between viewer expectations and live production economics, stating, “Together with NVIDIA, we are closing that gap - a 4K experience from the feeds broadcasters already have, at delivery costs they already pay.”

Richard Kerris, GM and VP of Media & Entertainment at NVIDIA, remarked on the transformative impact of AI on live content production and delivery, emphasizing that the collaboration allows broadcasters to enhance HD video efficiently. Broadcasters and streaming platforms attending IBC 2026 can schedule meetings for live demonstrations through Beamr's website.

Beamr is recognized as a leader in content-adaptive video compression and serves various sectors, including media and entertainment, machine learning, and autonomous vehicles, with deployment options across cloud and on-premises environments.
