Rocket Lab’s Biggest Launch Deal Yet: Confidential Customer Books Multiple Neutron and Electron Launches
Rocket Lab Corporation has signed the largest launch contract in its history with a confidential customer. This multi-launch agreement includes a bulk order for five dedicated Neutron launches and three dedicated Electron launches, bringing the company's total launch manifest to over 70 missions and boosting its backlog valuation to more than $2.2 billion.
The missions are scheduled to launch from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand and Launch Complex 3 in Virginia between 2026 and 2029. The pricing for these launches aligns with Rocket Lab's average selling price for both vehicles, though specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
The contract has rapidly filled Neutron’s commercial launch manifest even before its inaugural flight, indicating a strong demand for medium-lift launch solutions in the industry. Rocket Lab CEO, Sir Peter Beck, emphasized the expanding needs of the space industry, highlighting the necessity for reliable launch services as new technologies and infrastructure developments are pursued.
Currently, Rocket Lab stands as the world's second most active launch provider, having completed 87 Electron launches and now maintaining a backlog of over 70 missions for both Neutron and Electron. The company reported selling more launches in the first quarter of 2026 than in all of 2025, signaling significant growth momentum ahead. This new contract surpasses a previous record set earlier this year for hypersonic test flights with the Department of War.
