MOANA SURFRIDER COMPLETES LANDMARK RESORT RENEWAL, RESTORES HISTORIC SURFRIDER WING NAME

Waikiki's first hotel, the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, has announced the completion of a multimillion-dollar resort-wide renewal. The comprehensive transformation honors the 125-year-old oceanfront icon's storied past while ushering in a new era. The renovation spans all 791 guestrooms across three distinct wings and includes a refreshed historic lobby, a new oceanfront event venue, and the restoration of the Surfrider Wing name.

The newly renamed Surfrider Wing features contemporary design elements inspired by Waikiki’s surf culture, offering beach-loft interiors and custom local artwork. The renovation includes guestrooms available in king or two-queen configurations, complemented by five new junior suites that provide expansive layouts and views of the Waikiki skyline or beach.

The Tower Wing’s revitalization includes spacious, residential-style accommodations defined by modern luxury, many featuring beachfront and Diamond Head views. The historic Banyan Wing, renovated in early winter 2025, showcases classic elegance along with modern amenities. The resort's historic lobby has also been refreshed while maintaining its original Victorian architecture.

A new oceanfront event space has opened on the ground floor of the Tower Wing, expanding the resort's collection of venues for various gatherings. Designed by Honolulu-based designers Lisa-Maria Priester and Bev Tagami, the space draws inspiration from the cultural and natural resources of the Waikiki Beach area. Local artists are featured throughout the resort in a new video series highlighting their creative processes.

Additionally, the Moana Surfrider has launched "Moana Calls," a quarterly live music series centered on Hawaiian music and cultural expression, following the series' debut by Robert Cazimero in March. The series aims to honor the resort's historical significance in radio broadcasting and will feature more Hawaiian music legends throughout the summer and fall.
