Ducks Unlimited Completes Historic $4.06 Billion Campaign
Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU) has announced the successful conclusion of its "Conservation for a Continent. Our Wetlands. Our Legacy." campaign, which is described as the most ambitious conservation effort for North America's wetlands and waterfowl to date. At DU's 89th Annual National Convention in Tampa, the organization revealed that the campaign raised an unprecedented $4.06 billion for habitat restoration.
The funds raised are being utilized for landscape-level conservation efforts across North America, aimed at protecting crucial breeding grounds, migration corridors, and wintering habitats essential for waterfowl and other wildlife.
DU CEO Adam Putnam commended the efforts of supporters, stating, "What our supporters have accomplished is nothing short of remarkable. In a time when our nation's wetlands and grasslands face enormous pressure, our donors and volunteers stepped forward with generosity and conviction." He noted that these contributions will help ensure that millions of acres continue to support clean water, community protection, and habitats for various species, including waterfowl integral to hunting traditions.
During the announcement, the organization celebrated key accomplishments, including the conservation of 20 million collective acres and maintaining one million acres of conservation each year for three consecutive years. DU reported that over 26 trillion gallons of water have been conserved across landscapes since its founding in 1937, reflecting the ongoing commitment of its volunteers, donors, and partners.
As it concludes this significant chapter, DU emphasizes that "Conservation for a Continent. Our Wetlands. Our Legacy." illustrates the limitless potential of the conservation community to achieve effective results for wetlands and waterfowl. The resources accumulated and the acreage conserved are anticipated to sustain living landscapes, support wildlife, provide clean water and flood protection, and enhance outdoor experiences for future generations.
Ducks Unlimited Inc. is recognized as the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of North America's wetlands, grasslands, and waterfowl habitats.
