Corrata Reimagines Mobile Device Security for the AI Era
Corrata, a mobile endpoint security company, has announced a significant reimagining of its approach to mobile device security in light of the evolving threat landscape shaped by artificial intelligence. The initiative includes new AI governance capabilities, enhanced data loss prevention features, and plans to develop a bespoke on-device large language model (LLM) aimed at next-generation mobile threat detection.
Colm Healy, CEO of Corrata, remarked on the changing dynamics of mobile security, stating, "The device in your employee's pocket is simultaneously connected to AI tools, targeted by AI-powered attackers, and operating in an environment where the threat landscape is being rewritten in real time. The controls deployed two or three years ago were not built for this world. We have rebuilt ours to match it."
The rise of AI-driven threats presents new challenges for security teams, particularly in three areas: hyper-personalized social engineering, AI-accelerated exploits, and shadow AI leading to data loss. AI has transformed phishing attacks into more targeted and effective efforts, with research indicating a click-through rate of 54% for AI-generated phishing compared to 12% for traditional methods. Mobile devices are especially vulnerable, as 85% of phishing attacks now occur outside of email.
In terms of response, Corrata's technology monitors 100% of network traffic on mobile devices without the need for cloud relay, a feature that enhances visibility and security. The company aims to extend its capabilities with an on-device LLM designed to analyze encrypted traffic patterns and behavior in real time, as well as an AI governance functionality that defines and enforces approved AI tools within the mobile environment. Additionally, its enhanced data loss prevention capabilities target sensitive corporate data being transmitted to unauthorized external services.
Currently, Corrata's AI Governance and enhanced data loss prevention functionalities are available for clients. The development of the on-device LLM is ongoing, with its release date yet to be announced.
