IBM and Google Cloud Announce Strategic Partnership to Scale AI with Human Expertise and AI‑Powered Delivery

June 4, 2026

IBM and Google Cloud have announced the launch of a new Google Cloud Practice aimed at assisting organizations in rapidly scaling artificial intelligence (AI) into production and modernizing core systems. This initiative combines IBM’s industry expertise with IBM Consulting Advantage, an AI-powered platform that facilitates the design, build, and deployment of AI solutions, alongside Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

The new practice will employ thousands of Google Cloud-certified IBM consultants and engineers to support enterprises in implementing AI solutions, modernizing legacy environments, and managing technology across hybrid landscapes. This collaboration is expected to represent a multi-billion-dollar opportunity for both companies as they leverage their respective strengths for client benefit.

As part of this initiative, IBM will develop industry-specific AI agents optimized for the Gemini Enterprise platform, targeting sectors such as banking, government, retail, telecommunications, energy, security, insurance, and life sciences. These agents aim to automate workflows, enhance decision-making, and expedite operations powered by Gemini models.

IBM consultants will be equipped to design, build, and manage enterprise-grade AI agents directly on Google Cloud, utilizing pre-built assets and transformation methods. The collaboration has already yielded significant results, such as assisting Airbus in transitioning two aerospace businesses into fully independent operations in under 18 months by updating critical systems.

Mohamad Ali, Senior Vice President and Head of IBM Consulting, emphasized the importance of this partnership in providing a clear path for clients to scale AI across their operations. Meanwhile, Kevin Ichhpurani, President of Global Partner Ecosystem at Google Cloud, noted that this partnership aims to meet the increasing demand for AI expertise in the market.

The Google Cloud Practice will also focus on enabling production-ready AI systems, delivering industry-specific solutions, enhancing cybersecurity operations, modernizing hybrid cloud workloads, and improving operational resilience and governance through integrated technologies from both companies.
