The American Diabetes Association Announces Winners of the Innovation Challenge
During the 2026 Scientific Sessions, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced the winners of the 2026 Innovation Challenge competition. The Innovation Challenge seeks groundbreaking ideas from emerging companies that aim to transform diabetes care.
Jane Ruan, the ADA's vice president of strategy, expressed enthusiasm for advancements in diabetes care, stating, "There is tremendous excitement around advances in diabetes care right now. We're proud to support continued innovation and investment in possibilities that bring us ever closer to the ADA's vision of a life free of diabetes and all its burdens. Congratulations to this year's winners."
A total of five finalists presented their innovations to a panel of expert judges and a live audience. The three winners selected for their revolutionary potential in diabetes care are Adaptyx Biosciences, Nymble Health, and Silverstream Medical.
Adaptyx Biosciences is developing wearable biosensors that provide continuous biochemical data, expanding beyond continuous glucose monitors to include hormones, small molecules, electrolytes, and proteins. Nymble Health offers an AI-powered chronic disease management platform that provides personalized, evidence-based support through a simple text, aiming to enhance patient empowerment. Silverstream Medical focuses on integrated solutions for limb preservation, facilitating the transition from hospital to home.
Additional finalists included Alnu Health, which operates as a care infrastructure platform for chronic disease patients, and Flow Health Science, whose solution Klario® is a clinically studied multi-energy drink designed to quickly assist when blood sugar levels drop.
The winners receive recognition on a national scale, along with eligibility for potential investment of up to $50,000 from the ADA's Innovation Fund and access to a post-challenge accelerator program to support their continued growth. The application period for next year's Innovation Challenge will open in January 2027.
The ADA's 2026 Scientific Sessions, the largest global scientific meeting focused on diabetes research, prevention, and care, is scheduled to take place in New Orleans, LA, from June 5 to June 8. Thousands of leading healthcare professionals are expected to attend, sharing cutting-edge research and treatment advancements.
