OPTICAL CABLE CORPORATION REPORTS SECOND QUARTER OF FISCAL YEAR 2026 FINANCIAL RESULTS
Optical Cable Corporation (Nasdaq GM: OCC) has reported financial results for the second quarter of its fiscal year 2026, which ended on April 30, 2026. During this period, the company experienced a 26.6% increase in consolidated net sales, totaling $22.2 million, up from $17.5 million in the same quarter last year.
The revenue growth was attributed to strong performance in both the enterprise and specialty markets. Sequentially, net sales increased by 35.2% compared to the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, which had $16.4 million in net sales. The company reported that sales to U.S. customers rose by 21.2%, while sales to international customers increased by 45.3% compared to the previous year.
Gross profit for the second quarter reached $7.6 million, a 42.4% rise from $5.3 million during the same time frame last year. This increase was driven by higher sales volumes and enhanced manufacturing efficiency. The gross profit margin also improved, reaching 34.2%, compared to 30.4% in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025.
Additionally, selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expenses rose to $6.3 million from $5.7 million for the same quarter a year earlier, mainly due to increased costs associated with personnel and shipping. However, SG&A expenses as a percentage of net sales improved to 28.2% compared to 32.7% in the prior year.
Net income for the second quarter was $1.1 million, or $0.12 per share, marking a significant improvement from a net loss of $698,000, or $0.09 per share, in the same period of 2025. For the first half of fiscal year 2026, the company reported net sales of $38.6 million, reflecting a 16.1% year-over-year increase, along with a gross profit of $13.0 million—a 30.1% increase from the previous year.
