GENERAC ACQUIRES BELVIDERE, ILLINOIS FACILITY TO EXPAND LARGE-MEGAWATT GENERATOR PACKAGING CAPACITY
Generac Holdings Inc., a global designer, manufacturer, and provider of energy technology solutions, has announced the acquisition of a new facility in Belvidere, Illinois. This investment aims to expand the company's packaging capacity for large-megawatt generators in response to increasing demand from key sectors, including data centers and mission-critical applications.
In February, Generac acquired Enercon Engineering, Inc., which added specialized expertise in generator enclosure manufacturing. The new facility will further complement Enercon's operations by expanding capacity for enclosure assembly and final packaging, enabling the delivery of shipment-ready units to customers.
Erik Wilde, EVP and President of Domestic Commercial & Industrial at Generac, stated, "As demand for reliable backup power continues to grow — particularly from data centers and other mission-critical industries — expanding our capacity to deliver large-megawatt solutions is essential. This investment strengthens our ability to scale efficiently while maintaining the quality and speed our customers expect."
This development is part of Generac's overall strategy to scale its Commercial & Industrial business. The company has been increasing its operations in several locations, including Oshkosh, Beaver Dam, and Sussex, Wisconsin. These initiatives are designed to enhance Generac's domestic manufacturing capabilities and position the company to meet the rising demand in key markets.
The Belvidere facility will provide direct access to major interstate systems, facilitating the efficient transport of large-scale equipment. The new location is expected to create over 100 jobs when it opens in the first quarter of 2027.
