Vaja Raises €3.1 Million Seed Round to Bring Next-Generation Solar Tracking to Market

Vaja AB has raised €3.1 million in seed funding, increasing its total capital from equity investments and grants to €6 million. The seed round was led by The Footprint Firm, with participation from node.vc.

The funding will be utilized to enhance Vaja's market entry and product validation efforts. Specifically, the company plans to deploy its solar tracking technology across various customer installations, advance its core solar tracking innovations, and scale its team accordingly.

VajaTrack™, the first cost-efficient vertical single-axis tracking system, aims to replicate the success of horizontal solar tracking, which has transformed solar energy economics at lower latitudes. The system is projected to deliver 25-50% higher revenue compared to fixed-mount installations in Europe, most of North America, and large parts of Asia by optimizing energy output and capturing higher-value electricity prices during peak morning and evening hours.

Henrik Eskilsson, CEO of Vaja, stated, "Vaja is a pioneer for vertical solar tracking technology, a much-needed innovation that harnesses significantly more solar energy across more of the day and year for a significant part of the world." He further emphasized the potential for vertical solar tracking to become a dominant form of solar installation beyond 30° latitude in the coming decade.

VajaTrack's capability to significantly increase solar yields in northern latitudes aligns with the strategic goals of enhancing European energy security and independence, potentially accelerating the shift towards domestic renewable energy generation.

In response to strong demand, Vaja is expanding installation opportunities for 2026 and is currently accepting reservations for agricultural installations and pilot projects with professional solar farm developers. Founded by Henrik Eskilsson and Anders Olsson, Vaja is supported by investments from The Footprint Firm, node.vc, and grants from the Swedish Energy Agency.
