Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Announces Record-Breaking Scholarship Awards for 2026-2027 Academic Year
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF), a national nonprofit organization, has announced a significant investment in educational support for military families, awarding a total of $12.635 million in scholarships to 2,906 students for the 2026-27 academic year. This marks the largest scholarship investment and the highest number of recipients in the Foundation's 64-year history.
The funding represents an increase in both the number of students supported and the total financial aid provided, facilitating the pursuit of higher education and workforce development opportunities for children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen. MCSF scholarship recipients maintain a graduation rate of 91%, significantly exceeding the national average of 54%. Among these scholars, 48% are first-generation college students, and 63% graduate with little to no debt, compared to the national average of 32%.
All students who met MCSF's eligibility requirements received scholarship support, highlighting the organization’s commitment to increasing educational access. These outcomes emphasize the long-term benefits of MCSF scholarships in helping students overcome financial barriers and prepare for future careers.
Ted Probert, president and CEO of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, expressed pride in supporting this year's scholarship recipients, stating, "Inspired by the values of honor, courage, and commitment, these students represent significant potential. Investing in their education is both a responsibility and a privilege." He noted the ongoing mission to extend opportunities for more eligible children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen.
Established in 1962, MCSF aims to honor the service of Marines and Navy Corpsmen by providing scholarships for their children attending post-high school, undergraduate, and technical education programs across the United States. Since its founding, the Foundation has awarded nearly 60,000 scholarships valued at more than $235 million, serving students from all 50 states, and U.S. territories.
