Honeywell Community Solar Project SB 13-2 Successfully Achieves Commercial Operation in Upstate New York

PowerBank Corporation has announced the operational launch of a 7.01 MW DC ground-mount solar facility, part of a broader 21 MW DC portfolio for Honeywell International Inc. The project, located in upstate New York, is capable of supplying clean energy to approximately 875 homes annually. The development was executed as part of a US$41 million transaction that includes two other community solar projects.

The solar facility, known as SB 13-2, was constructed on industrial brownfield land regulated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which is owned by Honeywell. It is expected that once Honeywell's spinoff of Honeywell Aerospace Inc. takes place on June 29, 2026, the project will transition from Honeywell International Inc. to its aerospace division.

PowerBank developed SB 13-2 alongside SB 13-1 and SB-14, completing the sale and engineering, procurement, and construction agreement with Honeywell in September 2023. The community solar initiative allows renters and homeowners to benefit financially from solar energy without needing to install panels on their properties, as they can earn credits on their electricity bills through subscription.

Andrew van Doorn, President and COO of PowerBank, highlighted that the achievement of commercial operation for SB 13-2 marks a significant milestone in the company’s progress within the Honeywell portfolio. He emphasized the successful execution from development to construction and expressed anticipation for the remaining projects in the portfolio to become operational.

PowerBank Corporation has developed over 100 megawatts of clean energy projects in North America with an additional pipeline exceeding one gigawatt. The company aims to address the increasing demand for reliable power generation, particularly in areas driven by AI compute infrastructure and modular data centers.
