Group 1 Automotive Announces Baron MINI is now MINI of Shawnee Mission

MINI of Shawnee Mission, formerly known as Baron MINI, has been renamed as part of Group 1 Automotive's nationwide brand alignment initiative, effective June 4, 2026. The Merriam dealership is one of several U.S. locations undergoing this change, aimed at providing customers more clarity regarding the scale and resources offered by Group 1 while maintaining the local team's expertise and relationships.

Group 1 Automotive, based in Houston, operates numerous dealerships across the U.S. and U.K. The rebranding aligns with MINI's dealer naming standards, allowing the dealership to maintain its local identity while enhancing connection to Group 1's broader retail network. The name change does not affect ownership, staffing, product offerings, or daily operations.

Clay Shafer, General Manager of MINI of Shawnee Mission, stated that the rebrand offers customers the benefits of a familiar local team while integrating the strengths of the larger automotive group. The dealership aims to improve customer experience in sales and service, promising transparency and convenience for those looking to purchase or service vehicles.

The dealership remains at its existing location at 9000 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Merriam, Kansas, serving customers in the surrounding areas, including Overland Park and Shawnee Mission. MINI of Shawnee Mission will continue to offer new and pre-owned vehicles, as well as service and maintenance support, with a commitment to the community and continuity in service.

As part of Group 1 Automotive, which operates 250 dealerships, customers will benefit from a consistent experience across all locations, with services including sales, financing, and vehicle maintenance. The initiative aims to enhance brand recognition and trust among customers in the Kansas City area and beyond.
