EVA Air Debuts the First Washington, D.C. to Taipei Nonstop Service

EVA Air has launched a new nonstop service connecting Washington D.C. and Taipei, marking a significant expansion as its 10th North American gateway. This service represents the first direct flights between the two cities, aiming to enhance connectivity between Taiwan and the U.S. East Coast. A ceremonial event was held at Washington Dulles International Airport to commemorate the inaugural flight.

The ceremony included a water cannon salute for the inaugural flight and featured remarks from various dignitaries. Clay Sun, President of EVA Air, was present alongside Jack E. Potter, President and CEO of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA). Other notable guests included Gregory W. Campbell from the Virginia Department of Aviation and Alexander Tah-ray Yui from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S.

Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-Yu highlighted the importance of the new route in meeting the growing travel demand between Taiwan and the U.S. He expressed that this connection marks a new milestone in the partnership between the two regions. Sun noted the expanded market potential in the Washington D.C. area and praised the support from partners that enabled the network expansion.

The route will operate four weekly flights using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which are equipped with various class options, including Royal Laurel Class and EVA Air's Premium Economy Class. The flight schedule includes departures from Washington D.C. to Taipei and vice versa, with plans for a seamless integration into EVA Air's broader Asian network.
