Pathpal Closes Growth Equity Investment, Appoints Travis Allan Managing Partner to Lead Global Expansion
Pathpal Inc., a Toronto-based company specializing in proactive grief and life-transition care, has secured a growth equity investment led by Travis Allan of TA Group. Alongside this funding, Allan has been appointed as Managing Partner, a newly established role aimed at driving the company’s expansion in North America and preparing for global outreach.
This investment is considered a significant advancement for Pathpal, which was founded by Negin Chelehmalzadeh. The company focuses on the premise that grief is an ongoing challenge that does not adhere to traditional benefit timelines. Since its inception in 2024, Pathpal has developed into a "grieftech" platform that promotes proactive care for grief and major life changes, emphasizing support that is available continuously rather than reactively.
Pathpal's model seeks to address issues in conventional workplace wellness programs, which often react only when individuals are in crisis. Rather than waiting for employees to seek help, Pathpal integrates grief literacy into organizations, providing managers, HR leaders, and teams with resources and guidance before a crisis may arise. This approach aims to tackle the significant costs associated with presenteeism and absenteeism, which can total nearly $400 billion annually for U.S. businesses, according to research referenced by Harvard Business Review.
The company distinguishes between grief and mental health conditions, noting that they are interconnected but not synonymous. While many individuals might face grief without experiencing a mental health disorder, untreated grief can lead to more severe conditions such as Prolonged Grief Disorder and anxiety. Pathpal aims to fill the void left by traditional healthcare systems, offering round-the-clock support for those in need.
With the recent investment and new leadership, Pathpal plans to enhance its presence across North America throughout 2026 by strengthening partnerships in enterprise and HR, while also expanding its platform and educational resources. Furthermore, the company intends to explore international opportunities to extend its reach in delivering proactive support for grief and life transitions.
