Cboe Completes Sale of Cboe Australia to TMX Group
Chicago-based Cboe Global Markets, Inc. has announced the completion of the sale of Cboe Australia, now known as TMX Australia Exchange, to TMX Group Limited. This decision is part of Cboe's strategy to refocus its business and channel resources into its core strengths and growth opportunities.
Prashant Bhatia, Executive Vice President and Head of Enterprise Strategy & Corporate Development at Cboe, commented on the sale, stating, "Looking ahead, Cboe remains committed to maintaining a strong presence in Asia Pacific – a strategically important region where demand for Cboe's U.S. equities, derivatives, market data and educational offerings continues to accelerate."
In addition to the sale of Cboe Australia, Cboe has also planned the sale of Cboe Canada to TMX Group, which was announced in April. That transaction is expected to close at a later date, pending local regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
