ZAC Cognitive Explainable-AI (CXAI) enabling Situational Awareness for Autonomous Driving
POTOMAC, Md. – Z Advanced Computing, Inc. (ZAC), a startup specializing in Cognitive Explainable Artificial Intelligence (CXAI), has been awarded a $25 million grant to further its projects. The company states that its CXAI framework is essential for achieving Human-Level Situational Awareness, a key step towards developing Level-5 self-driving technology.
ZAC claims it has made significant advancements in various industries through its CXAI algorithms, which utilize Concept-Learning. The company asserts that its algorithms offer notable improvements over conventional AI and machine learning technologies, including Neural Networks and Deep Learning. Demonstrations of ZAC's capabilities have been conducted for companies such as Bosch-BSH and the U.S. Air Force, focusing on complex 3D image and object recognition from multiple angles.
According to ZAC, it is unique in achieving efficient AI training with as few as five to fifty training samples, employing Abstraction and Generalization methods akin to human learning. The company reports that its technology requires substantially less computational power, energy, and installation costs compared to traditional AI systems. Additionally, ZAC’s CXAI is recognized for its feasibility in edge computing applications, as stated by the International Business Times.
The company has also addressed significant challenges in AI development, such as the "Hallucination" and "Black Box" issues commonly associated with Neural Networks. ZAC possesses a robust intellectual property portfolio, with over 450 inventions, including 15 granted or allowed U.S. patents.
ZAC's development team is led by Dr. Saied Tadayon, who is noted for his academic accomplishments, including obtaining a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University at age 23. The company's advisory board features multiple distinguished individuals, including two Nobel Laureates: Prof. David Lee and Prof. Roald Hoffmann, as well as several prominent figures in academia and medical innovation.
