Zoomlion mobilisiert Notfallausrüstung und Personal für die Erdbebenhilfe in Kolumbien
Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has deployed excavators, compact loaders, cranes, and supplies to support relief efforts following a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10.
The earthquake, which occurred at 7:34 a.m. local time in western Colombia, is reported to be the strongest the country has experienced in decades. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the tremor occurred at a depth of 80 kilometers, with its epicenter located near San José del Palmar in the northwestern department of Chocó.
In response to the earthquake, Zoomlion activated its emergency mechanism. The company's Colombian subsidiary coordinated efforts with local disaster management authorities in Pereira and Cali, two of the hardest-hit cities, utilizing existing infrastructure to mobilize personnel and supplies to the epicenter. The company dispatched nearly ten essential rescue machines overnight, including five excavators and two compact loaders, along with customized materials and supplies tailored to the equipment and personnel in the disaster area. All equipment has arrived and is now being used for debris removal, road restoration, and search and rescue operations.
The affected areas are characterized by severely damaged roads, widespread debris, and ongoing aftershocks, which complicate the rescue efforts. Under the guidance of trained professionals, Zoomlion's excavators and compact loaders are being systematically deployed to clear heavy debris, breach collapsed buildings, open rescue corridors, and assess hazardous situations, gradually creating pathways to reach survivors.
Additional rescue teams and service technicians from Zoomlion continue to arrive in the affected region and will participate in the relief efforts under the unified coordination of local authorities. Service technicians will remain on-site to provide comprehensive support for the equipment throughout the entire rescue mission.
