AG AL's Gwen Snatches Esports World Cup Club Championship Glory In Unbelievable Trackmania Final
Gwendal "Gwen" Duparc has won the inaugural Trackmania at Esports World Cup 2026 tournament, securing the Club Championship for AG AL. After a seven-week competition, the playoffs of the Trackmania event determined the championship outcome. Team Falcons, the two-time defending champions, led the leaderboard with 4,600 points prior to their player Carl-Antoni "Carl Jr." Cloutier's unexpected elimination in the quarterfinals, which opened the door for other teams.
To clinch the Club Championship for AG AL, Duparc needed to place third or higher in the final. Competing against representatives from Team Vitality, Team Liquid, and Natus Vincere, Duparc dominated the match, gaining a significant lead after performing well on the first two maps. His victory allowed AG AL to finish with 5,300 points, securing their top position in the Club Championship.
“It feels so great,” said Duparc after the match as he celebrated with his teammates. “Anything can happen. I've done it, I've done the match of my life. Thank you everyone. This trophy is for you, for everyone.” For his performance, Duparc earned a $130,000 prize for claiming first place while AG AL received a significant $7,000,000 portion of the Club Championship prize pool.
AG AL's triumph concluded Team Falcons' hopes for a third consecutive championship. Despite being favored to win from the outset of the Esports World Cup, the Saudi Arabian club faced various challenges throughout the event, ultimately allowing AG AL to overtake them for the title in a dramatic conclusion.
AG AL chairman Le Kedeng expressed his delight in the victory, reflecting on the team's journey at the Esports World Cup over the past three years. “This is our third year coming to EWC, I remember in 2024 we were just at the gate, last year we came sixth, but this year, please tell me; who is the best team in the world?”
The Esports World Cup (EWC) is an annual event that celebrates competitive excellence and the global esports community, with this year’s competition taking place in Paris, France. The event features teams competing in multiple games for the largest prize pool in esports history.
