YFORE Debuts ODMS In-Cabin Sensing System to Enhance Cockpit Safety
YFORE Technology has officially opened its North American manufacturing facility in Georgia, unveiling its Occupant & Driver Monitoring System (ODMS), an integrated in-cabin full-coverage sensing solution.
As in-cabin monitoring systems gain traction, traditional vision-only setups often face challenges such as seatback occlusion, footwell blind spots, and covered occupants, while distributed sensors can complicate vehicle wiring and roof tooling. YFORE's ODMS addresses these issues by merging a DMS/OMS-integrated smart mirror with automotive-grade cabin radar, creating an integrated multimodal architecture intended for robust cabin protection.
The integration of the smart mirror with in-cabin radar helps to bypass optical limitations through RF signal penetration. The high-definition camera within the smart mirror monitors driver fatigue, distraction, and unresponsive states from a prime forward angle, while the roof radar can penetrate blankets, clothing, and tall seatbacks to detect micro-breathing in rear rows and footwells, providing comprehensive 3D spatial coverage.
The ODMS architecture supports seven key functions: driver fatigue, distraction, unresponsive driver, phone use detection, seatbelt status, occupant classification, and full-cabin life presence detection. This comprehensive approach aims to give automakers a reliable sensing foundation that could assist vehicles in achieving five-star safety ratings under Euro NCAP.
By integrating optical components into the smart mirror and linking them with a compact radar module, the ODMS reduces the need for multiple headliner cutouts and complicated roof wiring, thus maintaining clean interior aesthetics and simplifying platform adaptation for various vehicle models.
