CATL Announces Local Partnership, Showcases Full-Chain Storage at The Smarter E South America 2026

SÃO PAULO, Aug. 29, 2026 — CATL is showcasing its full energy storage ecosystem at The Smarter E South America 2026 in São Paulo from August 25 to 27. The company is demonstrating capabilities across various aspects of energy management, from cell research and development to project delivery and localized services. Additionally, CATL has announced a strategic partnership with Moura to participate jointly in Brazil's Capacity Reserve Auction for Energy Storage, highlighting its commitment to a sustainable energy future in the country.

CATL is presenting a comprehensive portfolio of large-scale storage solutions designed to meet Brazil's evolving power market needs. The company's next-generation energy storage solution, TENER S, aims to maximize long-term asset value with zero degradation in capacity and power during the first year of a 20-year design life. It features a liquid cooling system that reduces auxiliary power consumption by up to 20% and enhances areal energy density by 30% while reducing the site footprint by 20%. This system is expected to address Brazil's ongoing challenges related to grid instability and has already been selected for significant projects globally, including a 1.5 GWh project in Spain.

For high-density utility and industrial applications, CATL is introducing TENER H, which utilizes 575 Ah cells to offer 9,008 kWh per container, improving land utilization by 45%. The system supports flexible configurations of 2, 4, and 8 hours, making it suitable for grid stabilization and maximizing long-duration returns with high round-trip efficiency. CATL is also unveiling TENER Sodium in Brazil, comprising a 30 MWh sodium-ion system with a 20-year design life and 95% round-trip efficiency, designed for stable operation across a broad temperature range.

Ray See, Executive President of CATL's Americas Energy Storage Business Division, stated, "CATL's commitment to Brazil rests on three fundamental pillars: partnership, proven delivery, and localized service." The partnership with Moura aims to leverage CATL's advanced solutions and Moura's local expertise, focusing on localized production to meet the auction's content requirements. CATL currently holds a 45% market share in Brazil's energy storage market, with a diverse project portfolio across various sectors, including the Registro project, which serves as Brazil's first utility-scale battery energy storage system.

CATL's commitment to the region also includes a robust South American service network, which consists of over 140 certified engineers and senior storage experts, providing tiered response capabilities. Recent industry evaluations position CATL as a leader in energy storage, with significant growth in revenue and market share in the first half of 2026. The company has achieved notable project successes in regions like Eastern Europe and Australia, further affirming its comprehensive delivery capabilities.
