Suwanee, Georgia - YFORE Technology has officially opened its North American production facility in Georgia, where it unveiled its "Occupant & Driver Monitoring System" (ODMS), an integrated sensor solution designed for comprehensive cabin coverage.
As cabin monitoring systems are becoming a standard feature, traditional image-based systems often face challenges such as obstructions from seat backs, blind spots in the footwell, and concealed occupants. To address these issues, YFORE's ODMS combines a DMS/OMS-integrated smart mirror with automotive-grade cabin radar, offering a multimodal architecture for reliable cabin protection.
The integration of the smart mirror with interior radar overcomes optical limitations through the penetration ability of high-frequency signals. The smart mirror’s high-resolution camera captures the driver's fatigue, distraction, and unresponsiveness from an optimal forward-facing perspective. Meanwhile, the ceiling radar penetrates through roofs, clothing, and tall seat backs to detect micro-breathing in rear seats and footwells, achieving comprehensive spatial 3D coverage.
The ODMS architecture covers seven core functions: detection of driver fatigue, distraction, unresponsiveness, mobile phone usage, as well as monitoring seatbelt status, occupant classification, and presence detection throughout the cabin. This integrated approach provides automakers with a reliable scenario-based detection framework to help vehicles achieve five-star safety ratings according to Euro NCAP.
By integrating optical components into the smart mirror and combining them with a compact radar module, the ODMS eliminates the need for numerous cutouts in the headliner and complex wiring in the roof area. This preserves the cabin's aesthetic appeal and simplifies platform adaptation for various vehicle models.
