Softcare Welcomes ASN, ISO and SIS Delegation as Part of an Assessment Mission on Senegal's Hygiene Products Ecosystem

Softcare recently hosted a technical delegation that included representatives from the Senegalese Association for Standardization (ASN), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) at its factory in Senegal. The visit focused on discussions relating to local hygiene product manufacturing capabilities, technical processes, and industry needs.

The visit was part of the project, "Strengthening the Application of and Compliance with International Standards for Menstrual Hygiene Products — Stakeholder Needs Assessment." This initiative aims to gain insights into the capabilities, needs, and constraints of stakeholders within Senegal's hygiene products value chain, while also supporting the development of the country's National Quality Infrastructure (NQI).

As a local manufacturer, Softcare served as the site for the delegation's assessment. Representatives engaged with Softcare teams to discuss production capabilities, technical processes, quality management systems, and the challenges faced in the sector, followed by a tour of the production facilities.

Softcare has a long-standing presence in the Senegalese market and is focused on enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems to provide reliable hygiene solutions for local families. The company emphasizes responsible business practices and aims to improve the quality of life for families while supporting social development.

The discussions and site visit were designed to gather information that would aid in better understanding the local industry's realities and needs as part of the stakeholder assessment. The observations and data collected will contribute to the overarching analysis of Senegal's national hygiene products ecosystem.

This technical visit highlights the significance of collaboration among stakeholders in the local hygiene products industry and standardization partners, facilitating a clearer identification of needs related to standards, testing, conformity assessment, and technical capabilities. Through these efforts, stakeholders are contributing to the development of a more structured, quality-focused, and sustainable hygiene sector in Senegal.
