Midea affirme son leadership dans le domaine du R290 et ses innovations durables en matière de CVC à l'IFA 2026
At the IFA 2026 trade show, Midea unveiled its latest environmentally friendly and sustainable HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) solutions, reaffirming its green vision for a blue future.
Midea, the world's leading manufacturer of air conditioners using the natural refrigerant R290 for 16 consecutive years, highlighted advancements in compressor performance and safety technologies. R290 has an extremely low global warming potential, near-zero CO₂ emissions, no harmful PFAS substances, and offers approximately 10% superior energy efficiency. A transparent model at Midea's booth allowed visitors to observe the internal workings of this technology, demonstrating the connection between environmental responsibility and performance. Since 2018, Midea has sold over 10 million R290 air conditioners worldwide, contributing to a reduction of carbon emissions by about 5.2 million tons of CO₂ equivalent, comparable to the carbon absorption capacity of 6.2 million hectares of Amazon rainforest.
Among the solutions presented was H-Pack, a next-generation indoor heat pump developed by Midea's European R&D team. Its compact design is exclusively for indoor use, eliminating the need for an outdoor unit. This design aims to address issues related to outdoor noise, installation space, and architectural constraints. The system is designed for ease of installation and maintenance, with remote diagnostics allowing technicians to identify and solve issues without on-site visits, ultimately reducing maintenance costs. H-Pack supports both hybrid heating and 100% electric heating, providing greater flexibility and efficiency for European households.
Midea also showcased PortaSplit, displayed in a realistic setting replicating a European interior. Recognized for its ease of installation, high performance, and quiet operation, PortaSplit allows users to avoid costly installation procedures while ensuring optimal indoor comfort. It is expected that this product will adopt the R290 refrigerant gas in 2027.
The recently launched VitaBreeze received the IFA 2026 Innovation Award, highlighting its innovative air flow management features. The award was presented to Ralph Kobsik, Managing Director of Midea Europe GmbH, at the trade show. VitaBreeze incorporates "AirGrid" technology, which maps room layouts and enables visual control of air circulation via a smartphone. Presence detection allows the air flow to follow or avoid occupants based on their individual preferences, while wide-angle air diffusion ensures consistent comfort throughout the room. The latest Breezeless Pro technology expands air flow coverage by 30%, providing gentle cooling without drafts for optimal performance.
In addition, Midea introduced Raynor Pro, a high-end heating solution designed for Nordic climates. It can operate at temperatures as low as -40°C and maintains 100% heating capacity at -25°C, while achieving an A+++ energy class in both heating and cooling modes. This product also won an iF Design Award for its original design by Midea's design team in Milan. MHELIOS, Midea's home energy management solution, was also introduced. Demonstrated in a classic residential setting, this system optimizes energy storage and consumption based on dynamic electricity pricing to reduce costs and enhance grid stability. In compliance with German Energy Industry Act (EnWG) Article 14a, MHELIOS integrates chargers for electric vehicles, heat pumps, solar installations, and battery storage systems to optimize the use of clean energy while ensuring household comfort.
Through innovations in sustainable refrigerants, intelligent heating and cooling systems, and integrated energy management, Midea continues to demonstrate that technological innovation can align with environmental responsibility and everyday comfort, all while supporting long-term European sustainable development goals.
