McClintock Distilling Co. and Savage Soaps Join Forces to Make Eco-Friendly Soap

McClintock Distilling Co. and Savage Soaps have announced a collaboration to create a natural handmade soap called "FORAGER." This new product utilizes leftover gin botanicals from McClintock Distilling.

Misti Morningstar, owner of Savage Soaps, explained the idea originated during a previous event recognizing the Top 50 Frederick Manufacturers. "Braeden [Bumpers] told me he was interested in creating a soap using their leftover gin botanicals. He thought it would be a great idea to repurpose the leftover botanicals instead of throwing them away," Morningstar noted. She proceeded to blend essential oils that complemented the botanical mixture, resulting in a successful small batch of the "FORAGER" soap.

Braeden Bumpers, Co-founder of McClintock Distilling Company, emphasized the importance of local collaboration, stating, "Working with local farmers, communities, and businesses are a cornerstone of our mission at McClintock. This project highlights the spirit of community in Downtown Frederick and increases sustainability and environmental stewardship."

Morningstar expressed gratitude for the opportunity to partner with Bumpers and other local businesses. She also acknowledged support from Jodie Bollinger of The Frederick County Office of Economic Development and Donna Goff of The City of Frederick.

McClintock Distilling Co., based in Frederick, is recognized as the first certified organic distillery in Maryland, producing spirits entirely in-house. Savage Soaps specializes in handcrafted small-batch natural olive oil soaps and other personal care products, focusing on sustainability and non-toxic ingredients. The "FORAGER" soap is made using a cold-process method incorporating McClintock's gin botanicals along with essential oils such as Ginger, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Orange, and Juniper.
