GAC AION UT gewinnt den Preis für das beste Außendesign beim Torino Automotive Design Award 2026
The AION UT from GAC has been awarded the Best Exterior Design at the Torino Automotive Design Award (TADA) 2026, which took place during the Salone Auto Torino 2026. This accolade recognizes the distinctive visual identity of the model and GAC's commitment to developing electric vehicles that combine design expression with the practical requirements of modern urban living.
The TADA jury commented, "The AION UT impresses with its clear, coherent design and distinctive personality. Its balanced proportions, smooth surfaces, and carefully considered details create a recognizable silhouette without resorting to excessive embellishments. A spacious, thoughtfully designed interior further highlights the quality and coherence of the overall design."
Designed in Milan and built in Austria, the AION UT is crafted by GAC's European design team in Milan, aiming to stand out without being intrusive. Stéphane Janin, head of GAC's Milan design studio, stated, "We designed the AION UT to not quickly go out of fashion. To achieve this, we focused on essentials, foregoing decorative effects while avoiding a design that feels too 'cold.' I believe the AION UT finds the right balance between functionality and personality."
The AION UT is assembled at the Magna plant in Graz, Austria. The local assembly enhances supply chain flexibility and allows GAC to respond more efficiently to the needs of the European market.
The exterior design of the AION UT strikes a balance between visual impact and practical space utilization. Its compact silhouette is paired with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, resulting in a spacious and versatile interior suitable for daily use. The AION UT combines its award-winning exterior with functional interior practicality, offering a range of up to 430 km according to the WLTP cycle, enabling drivers to confidently handle both regular commutes and longer trips. The model reflects GAC's belief that affordable electric mobility should be both functional and emotionally appealing.
The AION UT was officially unveiled in Milan in March 2026 and is currently available in Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom. GAC plans to launch the model in several other European markets in the coming months.
