Sazerac Completes Acquisition of Au Vodka, Accelerating Global Growth and Expanding on Diverse Portfolio of Brands
Sazerac, a leading global spirits company, has completed its acquisition of Au Vodka, a fast-growing UK-based vodka and ready-to-drink (RTD) brand. The acquisition was first announced as a binding agreement and has now closed following customary completion conditions. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Au Vodka, known for its distinctive gold bottles and bold flavors, has established a strong presence across retail, hospitality, and e-commerce since its founding in Swansea in 2015. The brand employs over 80 people and has been successful in expanding its market presence both in the UK and internationally.
Sazerac's growth strategy includes a focus on brand development, strategic acquisitions, and continued investment in its portfolio. The company, which has roots in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Louisville, Kentucky, aims to deepen its presence in the UK market with this acquisition, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its global footprint.
Jake Wenz, President and CEO of Sazerac, commented on the acquisition, stating: "Au Vodka is a brand we've long admired, and it's had a phenomenal growth trajectory since 2015. What Charlie, Jackson, and Charlie have achieved in just over a decade is spectacular and rare, and we have big plans for Au as we welcome the brand into the Sazerac family." Wenz emphasized that the acquisition will facilitate further expansion of Sazerac's portfolio in the UK and support continued global growth for Au.
Co-founder Charlie Morgan expressed pride in the journey of Au Vodka, noting, "We are proud to have built it into one of the most disruptive brands of this generation. With Sazerac, Au can be offered to more people, in more markets, faster than we ever could alone. This is just the start of Au's next chapter."
Au Vodka will join Sazerac's extensive global spirits portfolio, which includes brands such as Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, and SVEDKA Vodka. The acquisition highlights Sazerac's strategic vision for growth in the competitive spirits market.
