CHIPOTLE EXPANDS RESTAURANT LEADERSHIP PIPELINE, AIMS TO PLACE AN APPRENTICE IN EVERY RESTAURANT BY THE END OF 2027

Chipotle Mexican Grill has announced enhancements to its Apprentice program aimed at developing restaurant leaders from within the company. With a decade-long partnership with Guild, Chipotle has supported nearly 25,000 employees in pursuing debt-free education, promoting career advancement and the company's long-term growth.

The company is targeting the placement of an Apprentice in every restaurant by the end of 2027, with current support already reaching approximately three-quarters of Chipotle's restaurants. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen management infrastructure as Chipotle aims to operate 7,000 restaurants across the U.S. and Canada, planning to open between 350 and 370 new locations in 2026.

More than 85% of Chipotle's restaurant managers began their careers as Crew Members. The Apprentice role is seen as a crucial step toward becoming a General Manager, equipping high-performing employees with the skills needed to oversee operations and develop teams. Ilene Eskenazi, Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer, emphasized the company's commitment to internal promotions and meaningful career development for employees.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Cultivate Education, a program powered by Guild, which has become integral to Chipotle's leadership strategy. Over the past decade, nearly 25,000 employees have enrolled in educational programs, with more than 14,000 completing them. Eligible staff can access various educational offerings, with Chipotle covering 100% of tuition for select college degrees and providing up to $5,250 annually for additional learning opportunities.

Chipotle's dedication to fostering a culture of growth and innovation has been recognized externally, ranking No. 2 on Fast Company's 2026 Best Workplaces for Innovators list and being included in TIME's World's Best Companies 2026 list. The company continues to invest in leadership development and education to build the leaders necessary for its future expansion.
