TELUS reports operational and financial results for first quarter 2026
TELUS Corporation reported a total customer growth of 262,000 in the first quarter of 2026, a result attributed to ongoing demand for its premium bundled services across Canada. This growth included 12,000 mobile phone subscribers and 229,000 connected devices, alongside 21,000 internet customers.
The company's mobile network revenue grew by 1 percent, reflecting improvements in average revenue per user (ARPU). Consolidated service revenue also saw an increase of 1 percent, with Adjusted EBITDA remaining stable at $1.8 billion, demonstrating TELUS's resilience in a changing operating environment. Cash from operations reached $1.05 billion, with free cash flow growing by 19 percent to $583 million.
TELUS Health reported strong performance with service revenue and Adjusted EBITDA growth of 11 percent, covering approximately 170 million lives globally. The company's AI capabilities also experienced double-digit growth, with plans to further expand its Sovereign AI Factories in response to market demand.
Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS, noted that these results reflect the company's commitment to operational excellence and strong customer relationships. Financial performance for the quarter showed net income of $144 million, a decline of 52 percent year-over-year, primarily due to a fall in operating income and lower financing costs.
In terms of capital expenditures, TELUS invested $651 million in the first quarter of 2026. The company also reaffirmed its financial targets for 2026, with consolidated service revenue growth projected at 2 to 4 percent and free cash flow expected to reach approximately $2.45 billion.
