Android 17 Beta Now Available for vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15
vivo has announced the release of Android 17 Beta 3 for its flagship vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15 smartphones. This beta version allows developers to access and test new Android features on vivo devices, which aims to provide a seamless user experience. The Android 17 Beta is now available for download on the vivo Developers website.
The Android 17 Beta version includes significant enhancements related to privacy, security, core functionality, user experience, and performance optimization.
The update enhances privacy and security by tightening network security and enforcing stricter control over background audio access. File operation handling has also been improved with stricter validation for read/write permissions. To protect against OTP hijacking, a three-hour delay has been introduced for SMS OTP reading in most apps, while specific APIs remain unaffected. Additionally, new permissions will limit cross-app communication and background activity launches to reduce risks associated with phishing.
In terms of user experience, Android 17 improves functionality on large-screen devices by defaulting touchpad pointer capture to a mouse-like behavior. The update also introduces a more efficient MessageQueue and enhances accessibility support for CJKV languages on physical keyboards. Another notable feature is the Android Contacts Picker, which allows users to share specific contact information with apps without disclosing their entire address book.
Android 17 also includes updates focused on performance and power efficiency. These updates aim to reduce wake locks and assist developers in diagnosing performance issues, including support for "allow-while-idle" alarms to optimize power consumption for recurring background tasks. Developers can visit the vivo Developers website to explore these features and provide feedback to help improve the Android 17 experience.
Eligible devices for the beta include the vivo X300 Pro in various regions such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and several others, as well as the iQOO 15 in countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, and India.
