Sempra Infrastructure Names Bhavesh "Bob" Patel Incoming Chief Executive Officer

June 8, 2026

Sempra Infrastructure has announced that Bhavesh "Bob" Patel will be the incoming chief executive officer, effective upon the completion of a KKR-led consortium's acquisition of a majority ownership interest in the company. Patel will also join the board of directors of Sempra Infrastructure. Justin Bird, the current CEO, will continue to serve as chairman and chief executive officer until the acquisition closes. After the transition, Bird will take on the role of executive vice president at Sempra while remaining on the Sempra Infrastructure board.

Justin Bird commented on Patel's appointment, stating, "Bob is a highly accomplished and respected global executive with deep experience leading complex energy, chemicals and industrial businesses. He brings a strong track record of building high-performing organizations, driving operational excellence and executing disciplined growth strategies. We believe he is the right leader to guide Sempra Infrastructure in its next chapter of growth."

Patel brings nearly forty years of experience in leadership roles within the global chemicals and energy sectors. His most recent position was as president of Standard Industries, and prior to that, he served as CEO of LyondellBasell. He has managed complex multinational organizations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, focusing on operational leadership and value creation.

Upon his upcoming role, Patel expressed optimism about Sempra Infrastructure's potential, saying, "Sempra Infrastructure is well positioned to help meet growing global demand for reliable energy resources. I have been impressed by what Justin and the team have built. The company has established a leading energy infrastructure platform in North America, supported by a talented team and a culture grounded in safety and execution. I look forward to building on that momentum in the years ahead."

The leadership transition is timed with the impending acquisition where the KKR-led consortium will acquire a 65% equity stake in Sempra Infrastructure. Sempra will retain a 25% interest, alongside the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority's existing 10% stake. This transaction highlights a commitment to the long-term growth of Sempra Infrastructure in developing critical energy infrastructure amid increasing global energy demands.
