Kos Biotechnology Partners Announces Third Closing of Global Life Sciences Fund at $123 Million
Kos Biotechnology Partners, a global life sciences investment firm connecting the US biopharma sector with Europe, has announced the third closing of its inaugural global life sciences fund, reaching total capital commitments of $123 million (€106 million). Launched in December 2025, the fund has garnered support from a syndicate of major institutional investors, including the lead investor, Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI), and global family offices.
Kos Biotechnology Partners is recognized as the first life sciences-focused investment fund in Greece and marks the largest launch of a venture capital fund in the country's history, as well as one of the largest first-time life sciences VC launches in Europe.
The firm's investment strategy is to deploy capital across all stages of development, from company formation to Series C funding. Kos aims for high-impact investments in three primary life sciences sectors: biotech and novel therapeutics, pharma services, and tech-enabled technologies.
Dr. Simos Simeonidis, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, commented on the unique opportunities presented by the intersection of biology, data science, and advanced computing, stating, "The convergence of novel biology with data science and advanced computing is creating unprecedented opportunities to cure complex diseases." He noted that the firm's mission is to support exceptional entrepreneurs who are redefining the standard of care by utilizing their international network to combine US drug development expertise with specialized scientific talent.
Kos was established by Dr. Simeonidis and Alex Tzoukas, who bring extensive backgrounds in investment and biotechnology. They are joined by Nikos Kostaras, who contributes operational and strategic expertise from his previous role as Greece's country head at IQVIA. Tzoukas expressed that the third closing validates their cross-border investment thesis and emphasizes the potential of merging US scientific innovation with the developing life sciences ecosystem in Europe.
The firm has already showcased strong operational momentum by completing its first two investments, which include leading a financing round for Epikast, a tech-focused pharma services provider, and making a strategic investment in a biotechnology company based in San Francisco. Additional investments are expected to be finalized later this year.
