Painterland Sisters Declares First-Ever National Skyr Yogurt Day

June 17, 2026

Painterland Sisters has announced the establishment of the first-ever National Skyr Yogurt Day, set for June 26, as part of the June National Dairy Month celebrations. This initiative aims to recognize skyr as an emerging high-protein dairy option that is gaining popularity among health-conscious consumers. Skyr, which is noted for its thick, creamy texture and high protein content, draws inspiration from Icelandic traditions.

The origins of skyr date back to Iceland, where it has been crafted by hand for generations. At Painterland Sisters, located in Pennsylvania's Appalachian region, the fourth generation of organic dairy farmers is continuing their family’s farming legacy while incorporating the ancient Icelandic craft of skyr-making. The landscapes and farming traditions of both Iceland and Painterland Sisters share a commitment to high-quality dairy farming.

Painterland Sisters collaborates with a 10th-generation Icelandic skyr maker to produce their organic skyr yogurt, which is lactose-free, made from real dairy, and enriched with probiotics. The brand emphasizes the importance of organic regenerative dairy farming in its production process.

In celebration of National Skyr Yogurt Day, Painterland Sisters will be hosting a branded food truck pop-up offering free samples of their Icelandic-style skyr and complimentary flower bouquets for the first 100 visitors at each location. The events are scheduled as follows: Philadelphia, PA on June 26 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Rittenhouse Square; Manhattan, NY on June 27 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at East Village; and Brooklyn, NY on June 27 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Williamsburg. The activation will feature educational components about organic regenerative dairy farming and the nutritional benefits of dairy.

Painterland Sisters is also inviting consumers nationwide to participate by tasting their single-serve skyr yogurts. The brand plans to reimburse the first 2,500 purchases of their 5.3oz skyr yogurts from participating retailers made on June 26 or June 27, 2026, via the Aisle platform. Further details on participation and terms can be found on their website.

Founded by sisters Stephanie and Hayley Painter, Painterland Sisters is dedicated to preserving their family’s organic regenerative dairy farm and supporting similar farms while reconnecting consumers with dairy products. For more information, visit www.painterlandsisters.com.
