Local Orthopedic Surgeon First in Area to Use New Treatment Option for Complex Shoulder Surgery

Fellowship-trained and double-board certified orthopedic surgeon Sarav Shah, MD, is now providing Boston-area patients with a new surgical option for the treatment of difficult acromion fractures, including those that may occur after reverse shoulder replacement surgery.

Dr. Shah is one of the first surgeons in the United States to utilize the Advita Ortho Equinoxe® Scapula Reconstruction System, which is designed to repair fractures of the acromion and scapular spine, areas of the shoulder blade that can be particularly challenging to heal.

These types of fractures can arise in patients with cuff tear arthropathy and other traumatic injuries. They are relatively rare but can pose significant postoperative complications following reverse shoulder replacement surgery. Previously, there was no dedicated solution tailored for these specific injuries.
