CORGI INSURANCE AND TRUCKER PATH INSURANCE TO LAUNCH FIRST TRUCKING PROGRAM UNDERWRITTEN ON ROUTE-PLANNING DATA

August 27, 2026

Corgi Insurance and Trucker Path Insurance have launched a new trucking insurance program underwritten based on route-planning data, aimed exclusively at users of the Trucker Path app. This initiative, announced on August 27, 2026, leverages the app, which is utilized by over 1.2 million professional drivers for trip planning.

The underwriting process incorporates proprietary navigation data from Trucker Path. Participation is voluntary and managed by drivers. The coverage options offered include auto liability, motor truck cargo, physical damage, and general liability, with Trucker Path Insurance serving as the agent of record.

In a sector where severe weather and cargo theft are significant contributors to loss, traditional underwriting often assesses risk solely after claims are made. In contrast, Trucker Path uses truck-specific routing, hazard alerts, sharp-turn notifications, road closures, and lane restrictions to help drivers avoid these risks proactively. The program recognizes fleets that consistently make safer routing choices before embarking on their journeys.

"Data and technology are where this industry is going, but only if the data can be used to influence safer outcomes on the road," stated Adam Smith, vice president of product and technology at Trucker Path Insurance. He emphasized that millions of drivers use Trucker Path to plan their schedules, highlighting the unprecedented scale at which safe driving habits can be influenced.

Historically, data-driven underwriting in trucking has focused on larger fleets with telematics hardware. Due to the costs associated with such equipment, smaller operations often rely on filings, loss history, and driver records for underwriting. The new program intends to extend underwriting capabilities to smaller fleets by utilizing data from the Trucker Path application they already employ.

Drew Bregman, head of strategy at Corgi Trucking, remarked, "This is a class of underwriting information that has not existed in this segment. It let us build a program around the data instead of adding an endorsement to a standard product."
